DeMarcus Cousins may not have the fondest of memories of his playing days with the Sacramento Kings, but he’s still thankful to have played in front of an appreciative group fans for seven seasons.
Kings fans were even very welcoming of their old superstar when the New Orleans Pelicans rolled into the Golden 1 Center Thursday, as they gave Cousins a rousing standing ovation.
To further show that love between the two sides is mutual, DeMarcus Cousins acknowledged his fans in Sacramento in an interview with TNT following the Pelicans’ 114-106 win.

“It was beautiful, man. A lot of people that know me knew I was nervous as hell. I'm thankful to have the years that I had in this city. The city and the fans were great to me, and I loved my time here. At the end of the day, it was nothing but love.”
Boogie’s heartfelt message to fans of his former team differed greatly from the nature of how the Pelicans center destroyed the Kings in the matchup. Cousins played like a man among boys, recording 41 points, 21 rebounds, and six assists to lead the Anthony Davis-less Pelicans to just their second win of the season.
