DeMarcus Cousins has had it with the villain label seemingly place on his forehead every time he takes the court.

For a change, the referees held their whistle as Mason Plumlee tried to sell a flagrant foul and possible ejection, going down fast and hard after Cousins had collected a defensive rebound with his elbows held high.

Plumlee's acting job didn't quite cut it, Cousins shook his head at his antics, and he continued his assault on the hapless Denver Nuggets, torching them for 40 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks — in what might be his best outing of the season.

Later, the New Orleans Pelicans big man expressed his frustration with the way players have piggybacked off his bad reputation.

“Just the antics — It’s silly, man. Let me live,” said Cousins, according to Gina Mizell of The Denver Post. “That’s all I’m asking … All this trying to villainize me and the way that it’s going, I hate it.”

Cousins has a reputation for being a hot-head and other players have used that to their advantage, either bringing in someone to provoke him or selling calls against him in order to get him tossed from the game.

The Kentucky product has dealt with that, even going back to his college days, but the cons of playing pro are missing checks and paying fines over $2 million for his career, as he already has.
