DeMarcus Cousins has recently been named a starter of the Western Conference All-Star team for the first time in his career. The superstar center had an interesting comment to describe his first All-Star starter selection.

Cousins was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the fifth pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. After spending seven seasons with the team, he was notoriously traded to the Pelicans after the 2017 NBA All-Star game. Ever since then, Cousins has emerged as the second half to the Pelicans' frontcourt duo along with Anthony Davis, who is also starting. Nonetheless, Cousins seems focused on just winning basketball games for his team.

“Consistency,” Cousins said, per William Guillory of the Times-Picayune. “We might play the right way three games, then play the wrong way four games. Just finding that consistency, being OK with being a boring team that plays the right way every night. I think it's just consistency. That's our biggest struggle.”

The Pelicans are currently sixth in the Western Conference with a 23-21 record. If things continue to go well for the team, Cousins will make his first postseason appearance, which will be a major accomplishment for the center. Hopefully, the big man represents NOLA well in the All-Star game in February next to his teammate Davis.

All in all, Cousins' comments may be getting at something personal. The star center has been slighted for his red-hot temper towards his own team and the officials. Now, Cousins is starting to get the credit he deserves as he makes his own case for being the best center in the game.
