After hearing that John Wall will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons’ hopes of becoming an All-Star was once again high. However, his high hopes were crushed as Adam Silver ultimately chose Andre Drummond to be his replacement for the exhibition game on February 18th.
The former LSU star couldn’t help but react to his “snub” by taking to his Twitter account and posting an Emoji that perfectly sums up his feelings on not getting selected.

Simmons does make a case for him to become an All-Star as he is having a very good first season for the Sixers. In 46 games, he is producing 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 35.0 minutes per game. He has also proven that he can play at the point guard spot effectively despite standing at 6-foot-10, which goes to show his level of talent and versatility.
Drummond, on the other hand, may have been selected because of the stellar numbers he’s having this year, which could be considered a stronger case to become an All-Star for the second time in his career. He is currently averaging 14.7 points, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks, to go along with his league-leading 15.1 rebounds in 33.1 minutes.
Despite not making it to the All-Star Game in his first season in the NBA, Simmons may see it as a challenge to play even better in the coming years. Should it serve as extra motivation for him, it could take his career to the next level and make him a perennial All-Star as fans, coaches and members of the media will find it very hard not to vote for him anymore.
