The Philadelphia 76ers just haven't fared well against the Portland Trail Blazers this season, and it didn't get much better in Saturday afternoon's 130-115 blunder.
Without Joel Embiid for the second consecutive game, the Sixers' bigs failed to counterbalance everything the All-Star center does so effortlessly. After Boban Marjanovic took full control in Thursday night's 106-102 win over the Miami Heat, he and fellow frontcourt member Amir Johnson were shelled by Blazers centers Jusuf Nurkic and newly-acquired Enes Kanter in the paint.
The Sixers were out-rebounded by a 53-33 margin.
Neither Marjanovic or Johnson scored in double figures in the game. Nurkic notched a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Kanter followed up with 16 points and eight boards.
Embiid is still expected to be out at least a week.
Aside from the clear disadvantage down low, the Sixers struggled yet again to contain one of the deadliest backcourt dynamos in the entire NBA between All-Star Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum – as the duo probed their way in the lane the entire game.

The team addressed the fact that they were without their most formidable option in Embiid; however, shooting guard Jimmy Butler was the most disturbed by suffering another demoralizing defeat to the Blazers this season.
Jimmy Butler not in the greatest mood after that game, obviously. Notes of the Blazers, “They beat our ass twice.”

Though Jimmy Butler finished with a 15-point performance, it's clear that he has reached his boiling point with the Blazers as an opponent.
With the loss, the Sixers drop to 38-22 and fourth in the Eastern Conference.
