We're going to have to start adding the prefix “Dr.” to the front of Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid's name. Not literally, but he proved to be pretty qualified as self-diagnosing his latest injury.

Embiid suffered a mild concussion and right orbital fracture in Game 6 against the Toronto Raptors. The facial injuries occurred when Pascal Siakam elbowed Embiid in the face with less than four minutes to play.

Following the Sixers' 35-point win, Embiid was blatantly honest when discussing the severity of it. ClutchPoints' Dave Early tweeted the postgame clip Friday night.

“I think he broke my face,” Embiid said to broadcasters, who began laughing, assuming he was joking. “I'm serious,” he clarified. “I think he might have broken my face. But it's all good, it's the playoff.”

If there's anyone who knows how it feels to have a broken orbital bone and a mild concussion, it's the Sixers' big man. Just four years ago, Embiid suffered the same injury, just on the other side of his face.

In other words, Embiid is a professional when it comes to this type of injury. However, there is no time for him to undergo surgery ahead of the Sixers' Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Miami Heat. And, he needs time to rest and pass concussion protocol.

That being said, the doctor, not to be confused with Dr. Julius Erving, will miss at least the first two contests of the series. Game 1 kicks off the series in Miami Monday night.
