Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid rarely finds himself at a loss for words, especially on social media.
Embiid has endeared himself to an entire generation of NBA fans with his playful internet antics, from everything to his public courtship of Rihanna to frequent post-game barbs of opposing players like Andre Drummond and Draymond Green. Embiid has more reason to laugh than the Knicks' ridiculously hasty resolution of Porzingis' trade request.
He no doubt prefers that an increasing majority of the league's stars reside in the Western Conference, especially Porzingis, who it seemed would go toe-to-foe with Embiid at least four times per season as Philadelphia and New York battle it out in the Atlantic division for years to come. Perhaps Embiid was laughing at the notion that the Knicks were actually using the cap space created by unloading Tim Hardaway, Jr. and Courtney Lee in the trade to meaningful ends in free agency, too. New York now has two max-salary slots to fill this summer, and rumors have swirled for months that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, headlining an impressive crop of top-tier free agents, could be interested in rehabbing one of basketball's most storied but long-suffering franchises.
Who knows for sure? What Embiid does know, though, is that another potential thorn in his side now plays out West, and the Knicks' bold plan to sacrifice a bird in the bush for two in the gander increases the possibility that they'll remain a laughingstock for the foreseeable future.
