Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers continues to give hints regarding the looming return of Joel Embiid. Although Rivers didn't give a definitive answer, he still claimed that the Sixers big man is already working towards making a comeback after missing several games dating back to mid-March, per Rich Hofmann of The Athletic.

Embiid suffered a bone bruise in his left knee in a game against the Washington Wizards which has forced him to miss multiple games. Despite his absence, the Sixers still managed to hold their ground as they notched a 7-3 win-loss tally in a 10-game stretch without their starting center.

Dwight Howard and Mike Scott saw more action on the floor as they tried to fill in the huge void in the middle left by Embiid. By way of a team effort, the Philly-based squad continues to maintain their grip on the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 32-15 record.

Before he went down, the four-time All-Star was playing at a high level with averages of 29.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks through 31 games played. His numbers led him to emerge as one of the frontrunners for the MVP award alongside Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, among others.

The Sixers will definitely need Embiid's production if they want to maintain their lead against the other contenders in the East and contend for the title in the postseason. Given Joel Embiid's injury situation, the other Sixers players must continue to step up until their star center successfully makes his return on the floor in their coming games.
