The Philadelphia 76ers have truly turned around what was an absolutely terrible roster into one of the most exciting young group of players in the NBA.

They currently stand 6th in the Eastern Conference and are just three games back from the third-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers. A proof of their success is that the number in the win column is higher than a lot of people expected. But the Sixers have not only beaten weaker teams as they continue growing.

They have victories over the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs. All of these are top three teams in their respective Conferences, so the Sixers should feel pretty satisfied with their improvement.

Beating the Spurs, however, is not a common sight, especially on the road. According to Brian Seltzer, Last night's 97-78 blowout win in San Antonio marked the first time the Sixers beat the Spurs at AT&T Center since 2004.

When that happened, Ben Simmons was only 8 years old, and both Dario Saric and Joel Embiid were 10. The 76ers also won their other game against the Spurs this season. This is the first time Philly won both of their regular season matchups against the Spurs since that 2004 season. This was only the third time that Philadelphia beat the Spurs when playing in San Antonio since 1985. Plus, this 19-point win was the Sixers' largest road margin of victory ever over the Spurs in franchise history.

After the game, Ben Simmons was asked about their losing streak against the Spurs. According to ESPN, he responded:

“The old Sixers, the old Sixers. We've got to come in with a new mentality and we've got to leave the past and play the way we play.”

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was not happy at all with his team's performance, saying:

“If I was a San Antonio fan tonight, I'd ask for my money back.”

The Sixers have made their mark during the regular season. It is now up to them to keep that momentum going in the NBA Playoffs.
