Shaquille O'Neal has been one of the biggest critics of Ben Simmons amid the former Rookie of the Year's unending drama with the Philadelphia 76ers. Simmons clearly wants out, but the Sixers have been standing their ground. For his part, Shaq has a bit of advice for the All-Star point guard.

Shaq was recently on CBS Sports Network's Tiki and Tierney program and he did not hold back with his message for the Sixers want-away star:

“One, he's not showing up. As a player, you have to be able to be real with yourself,” O'Neal (h/t Michael Kaskey-Blomain of CBS Sports). “You need to be aggressive and he definitely got exposed last year in the playoffs, he didn't want to shoot.

“You have to look in the mirror and say ‘Am I as good as I can be?' He's going about it all wrong. He could have gone into the office, say ‘hey, my feelings are hurt. You guys didn't stick up for me. I'd like to professionally ask for a trade.' The question is, does anyone want him? I'm not paying $200 million for a guy who will not be aggressive and will not shoot in playoff time.”

While his comments may be harsh, Shaq actually isn't wrong here. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for the Sixers in terms of finding a suitable trade partner for Ben Simmons is his massive contract. The 25-year-old signed a $169.5 million extension in 2019, which ties him up until the 2024-25 season. Technically, it's not $200 million, but you get Shaq's point.

According to reports, the Sixers have been trying to convince Simmons to remain in Philly. Their efforts have fallen on deaf ears, however, as Ben has clearly already made up his mind.
