The Philadelphia 76ers are a hotbed of NBA trade deadline rumors, primarily because of Ben Simmons. However, he's not just the only Sixers player attracting significant trade buzz. There's also Tobias Harris. However, Harris now appears to be unlikely to be moved ahead of the deadline, as the Sixers have become lukewarm about the idea of letting the forward go via a trade.
That being said, it's not over 'til it's over on this front, with regards to Harris. As long as the Sixers are searching for a new top-tier player to pair up with big man Joel Embiid, the door to a Harris trade will not completely close, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
While Tobias Harris' name emerged in trade conversations with the Kings and Hawks, the Sixers have engaged in little further dialogue about moving the veteran forward, sources said. But a Harris trade could still be on the horizon this summer as Philadelphia continues its pursuit of a new All-Star partner for Embiid.
Harris carries quite a price tag. He still has three more years left on his current contract beyond this season, equal to a guaranteed salary amount of $115.448 million, making him a viable asset for the Sixers in their search for a big hitter to complement the Cameroonian. Say, someone like Brooklyn Nets star James Harden or Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal.
Ben Simmons is supposed to be that guy running the show alongside Embiid, but the guard-forward might have played his last in Sixers uniform. There could be more rumors out of the Sixers in the coming days ahead of the trade deadline.
