Exciting. Young. Those two words perfectly describe the Phoenix Suns right now, and leading the pack is Devin Booker.

The 20-year-old phenom out of Kentucky had a stellar sophomore season wherein he averaged 22.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last year, highlighted by a 70-point explosion against the Boston Celtics.

With the team currently in the mix to acquire the service of Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers, management had reportedly spoke to Booker and gave assurance that he won’t be a part of any trade, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

That leaves Eric Bledsoe as the prime trade asset of the Suns. Despite having an injury-prone tag, Bledsoe still managed to play 66 games last season before being shut down for the final 14 games not because of any health concern, but just so Phoenix could focus on its young guns.

The team has always seen itself with a bevy of prolific guards, making it easy for them to throw away one prime backcourt man in trades. But that’s not going to happen to Devin Booker.

He is being viewed as someone with franchise player potential, and at this rate, is still several years away from reaching his prime.

The Suns currently have four former Kentucky Wildcats in their backcourt alone in Booker, Bledsoe, Tyler Ulis, and Brandon Knight.
