The NBA has become a 3-point shooting league, and the Phoenix Suns have now solidified their place as an elite franchise from beyond the arc.

In Monday night's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Suns — namely Troy Daniels — made a 3-pointer early in the first quarter. That shot gave the Suns a streak of 1,109 consecutive games making at least one triple.

That number became the longest streak in NBA history, per ESPN Stats and Info.

The previous record belonged to the Dallas Mavericks at 1,108 games. That streak spanned between 1999 and 2012.

If you divide the Suns' number by 82 — the number of games in the regular season — the result is about 13 and a half years. That calculation does not incorporate possible playoff runs the Suns had when Steve Nash was point guard and Mike D'Antoni coached the team.

But the fact that the Suns reached that many games making at least one 3-pointer is remarkable. One would think a streak like that would belong to a team like the Golden State Warriors, but that team has not been dominant for 10-plus years.

The Suns, throughout the last 10 years, had very good teams and played very fast, shooting a lot of 3s. In thinking about the 2010 team that made the Western Conference Finals, that team had Nash, Goran Dragic, Leandro Barbosa, Channing Frye and Jared Dudley — all serviceable 3-point shooters.

The Suns made history with a makeshift starting lineup. Devin Booker did not play, and he's arguably the team's best shooter from that distance.

It will be interesting to see how long the streak goes.
