The brewing Deandre Ayton and Monty Williams feud received a recent update from a very unlikely source. Rapper Lil Wayne, who sat court side for Game 7 of the Suns and Mavs Game 7 of the West Semifinals, reportedly heard an interesting dialogue take place between Ayton and Williams. Lil Wayne reported what he heard transpire to Skip Bayless, who revealed what Wayne told him on his show, “Undisputed.”
“From what our man Lil Wayne told me, he was sitting across [from the Suns bench], Monty got so upset with Ayton that he said, ‘You freaking quit on us.' That led to an exchange where each Monty and Ayton had to be restrained from going at each other.”
Stirrings of drama began getting tossed around after Monty Williams declined to comment on Deandre Ayton's lack of playing time in game 7. Ayton did not talk to the media at all.
But many chalked it up to the fact that tensions were running high due to the lopsided score of the game. But it appears that there is something deeper between the Suns coach and star center.

With Deandre Ayton set to hit the open market this summer, one has to wonder if Monty Williams and the Suns will attempt to re-sign him. He is a former first round pick who has the potential to develop into the best center in the NBA. But this fallout may prove to be end of Ayton's reign in Phoenix.
Who knew that a Lil Wayne report could have such drastic effects on an organization?
