Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard jokingly responded to a Twitter fan page that claimed Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is ‘the father' of Lillard's team after their game on Saturday night. The post didn't age well as the five-time All-Star delivered in crunch time to deliver a win for his squad after a tightly-contested encounter between the two teams.

The Blazers headed to the matchup against the Bulls as the favorite to win. However, head coach Billy Donovan and his men didn't go down without a fight as they took the Blazers to the edge.

After a tight-scoring first quarter, the Blazers looked like they were running away with a victory after ending the first half with a 64-53 lead. The Bulls responded in the next two quarters and managed to stay within striking distance from the Blazers.

Bulls guard Coby White seemingly iced the game for his team after he successfully knocked down a pair of free throws to give his squad a 122-117 lead with 11.2 seconds left in the game. However, Lillard fought back and spoiled the Bulls' night as he buried back-to-back threes in a span of 8.9 seconds to lift the Blazers to a 123-122 victory.

Damian Lillard finished the game with 44 points on 8-of-17 shooting from beyond the arc along with five rebounds, and nine assists. Enes Kanter contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds for the team as they continue to miss the services of CJ McCollum who remains sidelined with a left foot sprain.

The Blazers eventually snagged a 10-8 record for the seventh spot in the Western Conference. The team will need another huge outing from Damian Lillard as they visit the Milwaukee Bucks for the third tilt of a seven-game road trip on Feb. 1.

After the game, the fans of opposing teams have certainly learned a thing or two about not speaking too soon when facing Damian Lillard and the Blazers.
