Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard is not just known for his 3-point shots from the logo. Throughout his NBA career, he's built a reputation for closing out games for his squad.

Before hitting the game-winning 3-pointer in the 2021 All-Star Game, Lillard actually shared his thoughts on being dubbed as the closer. Anyone would agree that it's one hell of an assignment, but the six-time All-Star isn't shying away from the challenge. In fact, the Blazers star embraces it fully.

“I think everybody looks at closing and they say you know who made the big shot?” Damian Lillard said, per Lindsey Wisniewski of NBC Sports. “For me, personally, I prefer to be the one to take the shot. Just because in that moment you can put your team in position to either get over the top, or the team falls short. For me, as the leader of my team, I think part of it is I’m most comfortable being the person that has to answer the question because I know I can move on from it if I don’t make the shot, or if I don’t make the play.

Statistics back up Lillard's claims. In the final five minutes of the fourth quarter or in overtime, the most recent numbers reveal that the Blazers guard 31-of-49 (63.3 percent) from the field and 14-24 from three (58.3 percent) for 104 points.
