We've had some adversities and stayed together like atrue team does. we went to battle. we didnt make excuses,” Lillard said after the game (via Portland Trail Blazers). “Like I said, [it's a] disappointing end but we don't hang our heads in those situations. We just came up short,”
Dame is right.
Amid everything that happened inside and outside the basketball court this season, the Blazers have no reason to head to the off-season with their heads down. With all the injuries the team had to go through, the Blazers still managed to storm their way all the way to the sixth spot as the regular-season ended and even gave the mighty Nuggets a run for their money with a fascinating six-game series.
Lillard, for his part, had an unforgettable playoff run this season. In six games against Denver, Lillard averaged a career-best of 34.3 points per game while knocking down seven triples per contest. Dame's fantastic 55-point performance in Game 5, which came at a loss, is something the 30-year-old should definitely be proud of and hopefully build on as he prepares to battle it out again in Portland next season.
