Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox has been a revelation throughout Team USA's training camp and is reportedly a lock to make the final 12-man lineup in the upcoming FIBA World Cup later this month.

Funny thing is, Fox did not expect to be in this position prior to the start of his offseason. In fact, Fox admitted that he already had his summer plans all sorted out.

“I wasn’t really thinking about it honestly,” Fox told USAB.com. “Being on the select team, that’s what I was expecting, come in here and work for a week. Play against the guys who are competing for a spot on the team and just finishing the rest of my summer.

“My agent’s getting married September 1, and I was planning on going to that. But he was like, ‘Go do that. It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.’ It could change the rest of my summer.”

Fox was initially with the Select Team that would train and scrimmage with the senior roster that will represent Team USA in the World Cup. However, with his incredible showing throughout camp, Fox was promoted to the senior team.

His stellar play, especially during their intra-squad scrimmage — will likely take him all the way to China, the host country of this year's FIBA World Cup. Fox stuffed the stat-sheet in his 15 minutes off the bench on Friday night's Team USA showcase, where his Team Blue routed Team White, 97-78.

The Kings guard scored 12 points and added three rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks while shooting at an efficient 6-of-9 from the field.
