Tensions continue to boil in Sacramento as Kings guard De'Aaron Fox recently vented his frustrations regarding his team's lackluster effort after their game against the Toronto Raptors. Despite shooting a commendable 60% from the field, the entire Kings unit had numerous letdowns on the defensive end which ultimately cost them the game, per The Athletic‘s Jason Jones.
"Defensively we played a game that you wouldn’t win a single game in this league with … We shot fucking 60 percent today. You’re not supposed to lose a game where you’re shooting 60 percent from the field. "

Both the Kings and the Raptors had a neck and neck battle in the first half of the game. However, Nick Nurse and his men came out with a strong performance in the third quarter to slowly pull away from their opponents. The Kings eventually failed to match the Raptors' intensity in the final frame to succumb to a 144-123 lopsided defeat.
Fox had every reason to be frustrated with the outcome of the tilt as he came out with 23 points on an efficient 9 of 11 shooting clip from the field. Harrison Barnes came out with 21 points and eight assists of his own while Marvin Bagley III added 15 points and four rebounds for the Kings.

Despite having six players score in double-figures, the team still failed to fend off the Raptors' attack on the opposite end of the floor. Fred VanVleet had a huge night with 34 points and seven assists while Chris Boucher came out with a solid double-double performance of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
With the victory, the Raptors managed to end a three-game losing skid to improve to a 2-6 record while the Kings dropped back to a 4-5 tally. Wins won't come by easily if Sacramento will continue to approach their coming games with the same despondent effort on the defensive end moving forward.
The Kings will have to bounce back and play with greater intensity on both ends of the floor as they aim to contain Damian Lillard and the high-scoring Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 9.
