Sacramento Kings point guard Frank Mason III and rapper Lil Wayne will settle their differences amicably, avoiding a potential federal court suit from taking place, according to Darren Heitner of Sports Agent Blog.
Lil Wayne’s sports agency had sued the young guard for stealing a Young Money gold chain and leaving the agency only a year after signing.
The New Orleans-based rapper and his agency, Young Money, was seeking compensation for $40,000 spent in advances for Mason, $52,000 in pre-draft expenses, such as flights, events, and marketing, and a Young Money gold chain, which is reportedly worth $11,000.
Resolution comes within mere days of filing a federal lawsuit for $90,000-plus in reimbursements for these advances and expenses, along with the due return of the Young Money gold chain.
Lil Wayne will let Mason keep the chain, as long as he returns its worth of $11,000 instead of the item.
The 5-foot-11 point guard starred at Kansas before declaring for the NBA, but saw spare minutes behind veteran George Hill and No. 5 overall selection De'Aaron Fox, posting 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game last season.
