There would be no more dosage of Marvin Bagley III for the Sacramento Kings in this year’s NBA Summer League. According to a report by Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports, the second-overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft will no longer play in any of Sacramento’s remaining exhibition games in the tournament due to a pelvic bone bruise.

Fortunately for the Kings, Bagley’s injury is not serious enough to put his availability for the start of next season in jeopardy, as a couple of weeks of rest would suffice his recovery.

Bagley sustained the injury during last Saturday’s 71-63 loss to Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns. In that game, he put up a decent stat line of 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal in 32 minutes on the floor.

Marvin Bagley III is being groomed by the Kings as the future face and cornerstone of a long-ailing franchise that has not reached the playoffs in over a decade, so it’s only prudent on the part of Sacramento to avoid risking further aggravating the rookie’s injury in some generally meaningless contests this summer.

Before coming over to the NBA, Bagley had an astounding freshman season for the Duke Blue Devils in which he averaged a double-double of 21.1 points and 11.1 rebounds in 32 games.
