The Sacramento Kings are still interested in being a complementary team in case of a three-team trade needs to take place in the pursuit of Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Jimmy Butler, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Kings had extended their services as a potential haul for a bloated contract such as Gorgui Dieng's three years and $48.7 million, which the Timberwolves have expressed interest in removing from their bill. Sacramento is hoping for a first-round draft pick in exchange, but will be wary of what contract they will take back, hoping not to obstruct their future flexibility.

The Miami Heat have been at the forefront of Butler's destination wish list, despite not having the current salary cap situation that can sign him to a max long-term deal in the offseason.

Jimmy Butler is hopeful that the Wolves brass could work out a solution for that with the Heat by trading for several players and creating the necessary cap space to keep him long-term.

Conversations have been murky at best, creating confusion and frustration from the Heat and other inquiring franchises, who are wondering if president/head coach Tom Thibodeau is really trying to deal Butler, given his enormous asking price for the four-time All-Star wing.

The Phoenix Suns, who were interested in netting Jeff Teague or Tyus Jones as a partnering team for this trade, are reportedly out of the picture after several conversations with Minnesota's front office, given their conditions.
