Basketball is indeed in the Kerr bloodline.
After the stellar playing career of Steve Kerr in the NBA, he is now a successful head coach, and even won a title with the Golden State Warriors in 2015. His son, Nick, is trying to follow his father’s footsteps, and will now reportedly join Gregg Popovich’s staff with the San Antonio Spurs, as their video coordinator starting next season.
The older Kerr talked about the exciting development on his son’s career in the league, and said, via Tim Kawakami of The San Jose Mercury News, that he is proud of him. He then added that it’s a good opportunity for him, especially learning from the “best in the business.”

“He’s been at pretty much every practice the last two postseasons–once the Cal season ended the last two years he just came down and rebounded and watched film with our staff. So he’s getting a pretty good education here.”
“It’s good for him to go out and do his own thing; pretty good opportunity to go work for the best in the business.”
Nick played college ball for California and after his playing days in the NCAA were over, he joined his father and helped in assessing plays from game tapes. His experience the past couple of seasons has intrigued the Spurs, which resulted in them hiring him for the job.
It will be interesting to see how he will help the Spurs in preparing for their games next year, especially against the Warriors, as he’s more familiar with their offensive and defensive sets. The Spurs will now have that advantage, as well as having another Kerr as part of their organization.
