In one of the most anticipated games of the season, the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors faced each other for the first time since the Kawhi Leonard-DeMar DeRozan trade, and the Spurs drew first blood.

DeMar DeRozan got his first career triple-double, scoring 21 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out 11 helpers to propel the Spurs to a 125-107 victory over the Raptors. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points on 10-14 shooting, while Derrick White contributed 19 points in their win.

Kawhi Leonard dropped 21 points and five assists in a losing effort against his former team.

DeRozan notched his triple-double in the 7:09 mark of the fourth, when he passed the ball to Aldridge, who hit an 18-foot jumper.

DeRozan was involved in one of the biggest and most controversial trades in recent memory, when the Raptors decided to trade him and Jakob Poeltl to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Leonard and Danny Green. He made it known that he felt betrayed, especially when he said he was told by the Raptors' front office that he will not be dealt, a few days before the actual trade took place.

DeRozan spent nine years with the Raptors, averaging 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists for the franchise. He also led the team to its first-ever appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, where they eventually lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Both teams will meet again on Feb. 2. This time, the second round of their showdown will take place when DeRozan returns to Toronto for the first time since the trade.
