San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan recently met with former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in the Virgin Islands to expand the Yes! Our Kids Can (YOKC) program.
Duncan, a native of St. Croix, has long been known for his support of the Virgin Islands and its youth. Now, with the help of the Clinton's, he's making a $500,000 donation to the San Antonio-based educational initiative.
The YOKC program, a nonprofit established in 2016, includes lessons with motivational songs, videos and games to be played on classroom tablets that are geared towards “disrupting generational poverty.”
The YOKC program is already being used in several San Antonio area school districts. Now, with the aid of Duncan and the Clinton's, it will make it's way to the Virgin Islands.
According to a report from mysanantonio.com, Duncan made a stop at the Queen Louise Home for Children on Sunday. The Queen Louise Home is a safe place for children in the USVI who have been abused or neglected.
The staff talked about their Early Head Start program, the only one in the territory, and its impact. In ‘94, the Clinton administration, led by Secretary @HillaryClinton, started Early Head Start.
