Gregg Popovich is currently in his 23rd season as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, and once again, he is doing a masterful job, leading a questionable cast of players to a 32-23 record over the first three-and-a-half months of the season.

But is the 70-year-old nearing the end of his tether as an NBA coach?

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, a former player for Popovich, does not think that Pop is close to retiring:

“I don’t get the sense he’s anywhere close to stepping down,” Kerr told reporters before the Warriors' game against the Spurs on Tuesday night, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “But then again, I haven’t asked him. But I just know how much he loves coaching. Obviously, he's got the Olympics in two years, and I'm excited to be part of that, but it's obviously his life, and whatever process he makes to go through those decisions, he'll go through. But, he loves what he does, so I imagine he's gonna keep doing it.”

Popovich has won five championships as head coach of the Spurs, with two of those coming with Kerr on the roster in 1999 and 2003. Kerr had two separate stints as a player for San Antonio, residing with the team from the 1999-00 campaign through 2000-01 before heading to the Portland Trail Blazers for one season. He then returned to the Spurs for the 2002-03 season, ending his career with another title.

Overall, Popovich has been to six NBA Finals, with his only loss coming to the Miami Heat in 2013, which he avenged in blowout fashion the following year.
