The Philadelphia 76ers take on the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night, and star point forward Ben Simmons plans to make his return to the lineup from back tightness, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Simmons suffered a back injury Saturday night at home against the Orlando Magic and didn't return to the game. The reigning Rookie of the Year didn't play in Tuesday's game against the Detroit Pistons. The Sixers lost in overtime, 133-132.
In the three games he has played in this season, Simmons is averaging 12.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists while shooting 56.0 percent from the field. He already has two double-doubles and one triple-double as well. The Sixers are 2-2 on the young season.
Article Continues BelowAfter missing the entire 2016-17 season with a broken foot, Simmons played in 81 games last year and didn’t disappoint. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor during the regular season. Simmons did all of his damage in the paint. His 12.7 points in the paint per game ranked fourth behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s average of 15.7, Anthony Davis’ 15.4 and LeBron James’ 14.4.
Although he has yet to attempt a 3-pointer this season, Ben Simmons Simmons said on media day he worked on his 3-point shot during the offseason. Time will tell if the lefty is comfortable to take those shots in real games.
