On Saturday afternoon at Quicken Loans Arena, the Oklahoma City Thunder (26-20) set a franchise record for most points scored in regulation for a road game when they put a 148-124 beatdown on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Thunder simply put together an offensive clinic on national television, while the Cavs gave up the second-most points in a regulation game since the 2011 lockout.
According to Basketball-Reference, the Thunder's 148 points on the road in 48 minutes broke the record set by the Seattle SuperSonics back in February of 1993 during a 141-120 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
That's pretty outstanding as the Thunder have had their fair share of issues with consistency this season despite having a star-studded trio in Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Paul George. The three stars, as well as center Steven Adams, put on a show Saturday with a relentless offensive attack for 48 minutes.
George led all scorers with 36 points on an impressive 12-of-19 shots from the field, while Westbrook nearly had a triple-double with 23 points, a season-high 20 assists, and nine rebounds in the game. Anthony had 29 points and 10 rebounds, while Adams had a double-double of his own with 25 points on a nearly-perfect 12-of-13 shots from the field and 10 boards.
