It has just been confirmed that the Toronto Raptors will be without Kyle Lowry for Thursday's marquee matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. According to a report, Lowry has been ruled out due to a sprained left thumb.

This comes via Raptors reporter Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports:

It is worth noting that Lowry exited Tuesday's game — also against the Bucks — due to a sprained left ankle. He tried to play through the injury for a while for the Raptors, but he did have a noticeable limp. He was forced to exit at the start of the third period and was unable to return.

As it turns out, however, it's not the ankle issue that will cause Lowry's absence for Thursday's rematch for the Raptors against the Bucks. Apparently, Lowry also sprained his thumb during the game, and it is this injury that will cost him some time on the shelf.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse also noted that Lowry's current thumb sprain — which incidentally is on his non-shooting hand — will likely result in the veteran missing multiple games:

Toronto is set to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday in the second night of a back-to-back set for the Raptors, and Nurse has already ruled Lowry out for that one.

The Raptors return to action on Sunday and again on Tuesday in back-to-back duels against a fellow Eastern Conference contender in the Philadelphia 76ers.

Those are going to be two key matchups for the struggling Raptors, so unless Lowry remains in significant pain, he should be available for the team for those two games.
