Dwyane Wade’s Miami Heat return was an emotional one as anyone would have expected it to be. After all, the 36-year-old shooting guard spent his first 13 years in the pros in South Beach, where he won three NBA titles while becoming one of his generation’s most sensational and unforgettable players.
In his first game back in Miami since being traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Heat on Thursday, Wade was given a hero treatment by the crowd at the AmericanAirlines Arena when he checked into the game in the first quarter of the match against the Milwaukee Bucks. Cheers reverberated around the arena all throughout the contest, even though Wade was not in his usual form, shooting just 1-for-6 from the floor for only three points. He still stuffed the stat sheet, however, with two blocks, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in 22 minutes of playing time.
Even after the game, the drama of Wade’s South Beach return was very much palpable. Perhaps one of the most memorable moments of Wade’s night was when the three-time NBA champion hugged his kids following the Heat’s 91-85 win over Milwaukee.

While Wade did not contribute much offensively in the game, his presence must have lit a fire underneath the Heat, who ended a five-game losing skid with a victory over the Bucks.
Dwyane Wade and the Heat will now look to win back-to-back games when they pay the Toronto Raptors a visit north of the border this coming Tuesday. Wade entered the Bucks game with an average of 11.2 points per game this season.
