More information is coming out regarding the blockbuster DeMarcus Cousins-Golden State Warriors deal. It turns out that the Warriors were pretty aggressive in recruiting the big man as the process was led by Draymond Green.

As reported by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, along with Green, the Warriors' general manager and head coach also had a hand in luring in Cousins:

The Warriors’ recruitment was led by Green, who has a strong relationship with Cousins, Durant and general manager Bob Myers, and it included positive phone calls between Cousins and coach Steve Kerr, league sources said. Both Cousins and the organization understood the most critical time of the season — the playoffs — will be the stage in which Cousins shines the most for the Warriors.

In addition, the Warriors didn't believe that Cousins was really interested in joining them. But after several phone calls, the process quickly developed. Cousins did have interest in joining them and entered negotiations.

Cousins will be joining the defending champions. And by the time that he's up and healthy come December or January, he'll most likely join the starting line up with Green, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson.

Before going down with a torn Achilles tendon in late January, Cousins was making his mark with the New Orleans Pelicans. In 48 games last season, Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks.
