Who's the real rookie of the year? Utah Jazz's Donovan Mitchell or Philadelphia 76ers' Ben Simmons? The debate is attracting more attention day after day. Yet if Draymond Green is concerned, the two should just share the award. That's if we're living in an ideal world.
Per Kyle Goon of The Salt Lake Tribune, Green shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate. When asked who's should be ROTY, the Golden State Warriors forward said:
“I think in an ideal world, they'll be co-rookie of the year. I don’t think that, really, you can go wrong with either. Donovan or Ben, they’re both having [a] spectacular year.”

Draymond Green says in a perfect world, Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell would tie for Rookie of the Year. But he respects Mitchell’s case because he thinks he’s a “true” rookie. pic.twitter.com/FTyzIHaOLq

As observed in the video, Green was quick to give a more conclusive answer. Though he noted that in an ideal world, the two would share ROTY honors but in reality, his choice is Mitchell. But he also defended Simmons' superb season, too.:
“For me, I would go with Donovan just for the simple fact: I think he’s a true rookie. With Ben, I think just having NBA training, eating like a pro, watching film like a pro, you know, I think all that makes a difference. Not taking away anything that he’s doing because he’s having a fantastic year, and I think he’ll be one of the faces of this league for years to come.
But for me, what Donovan has done, just coming straight out of college and doing what he’s doing, would give him the nod for me.”
