Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has been selected by the fans as one of the two captains in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. This means that he can select any player he wants from a pool of All-Stars and Curry joked that he’ll take all guards just for fun. That’s aside from taking Kevin Durant if LeBron James doesn’t, that is.
Curry was interviewed by The Athletic’s AnthonySlater regarding the voting results, what he thinks of the format, and what he plans to do with his selections.
“The All-Star Game has been on for a long time and to switch up the format, Me and LeBron will be the two guys to usher in the new system, it should be fun. I don’t really know what to expect, the kind of unknown of it all and how the teams will take shape. Just the visual of seeing the Eastern Conference, Western Conference, those guys kind of mixed in should be pretty fun. I’ll enjoy the selection process, however it goes down and then go from there.”
Later, Curry jokingly explains his thought process when selecting his teammates.
“Obviously, the way that the rest of the All-Stars, the guys that will be on the teams, the reserves when they’re selected, that will be interesting to see, and then from there just have fun with it. I was joking I don’t know who LeBron will take with the first pick but depending on how that goes, I might have to just go pick all guards or something, get the shortest team possible or what-not, just try to have some fun with it. Who knows how it will play out.”
