In the midst of the mail bombs that were sent out over the past few days to alleged anti-Trump critics, Golden State Warriors head coach — who himself has not been shy in his critical comments against the President — admitted that he too feels some concern over his own safety.

A number of prominent figures recently received suspected mail bombs to their home addresses, but luckily, Kerr was not one of them. Nevertheless, the 53-year-old did acknowledge his uneasiness amidst these acts of terrorism.

“Concerned for myself? A little bit,” Kerr said two hours before the Warriors-Knicks game, via Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo! Sports. “I think we should all be concerned. No matter who you are, you need to be concerned. Not just with the bombs but just the issue in the country we live in, innocent people getting killed, innocent people getting shot. It’s a dangerous time to be alive.”

Nonetheless, this did not stop Kerr from wanting to make a brief commentary on what he believes to be a terrible political state in the country.

“It’s really sad,” the Warriors coach said. “It speaks to where things are in our political atmosphere, but, no, I have not [received any suspicious mail].”

Sports and politics are two completely separate and independent spheres. However, personalities like the Warriors coach, who are unafraid to speak their mind and use their influence to promote their beliefs, are a breath of fresh air. At the end of the day, we are all citizens of the United States, and we must always remain vigilant and keep a watchful eye on any and all threats to our nation — be it externally or internally.
