All-Star point guard John Wall announced on Friday afternoon that he had inked a designated player extension of four years worth $170 million with the Washington Wizards.

In light of the move, veteran forward Jared Dudley voiced major praise toward Wall by comparing him to one of his most notable former teammates.

Dudley has a valid point that the 26-year-old has made a major impact on the contracts that he teammates have received over the last couple of summers. Bradley Beal inked a max contract of five years worth $127.1 million to stay with the Wizards.

Meanwhile, Washington decided nearly three weeks ago to match the offer sheet of a four-year, $106.5 million presented Otto Porter by the Brooklyn Nets.

Although Wall isn't quite the passer that Steve Nash was during his heyday, he has developed into one of the top point guards in the league. Wall is coming off a career-best season where he averaged 23.1 points on 45.1 percent shooting from the field with 10.7 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.

He also became the first player in league history average at least 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks for the entire season. His ability to impact the game as both a scorer and a facilitator has allowed for his teammates to be better utilized and show their worth to land lucrative deals.

This is highly similar to the way that Nash did during his time with the Phoenix Suns as Amar'e Stoudemire earned a five-year, $100 million deal with the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, role players such as Tim Thomas inked a four-year deal with the L.A. Clippers.

More importantly, Wall's new deal means that he will remain the face of the franchise for the next several seasons while likely helping more of his teammates get more large contracts in the process.
