This NBA offseason is a huge one for the Washington Wizards. Star guard Bradley Beal, who has emerged as an All-Star caliber player in Washington, has an uncertain future. Beal has a player option on his contract. If he opts in, he's eligible for a new contract that could pay him as much as $250 million.

However, teams have been circling the waters in their attempt to lure Beal away from Washington, which might not be the best long-term fit for the star. NBA reporter Marc Stein revealed one of Beal's motivating factors this offseason: to be like former Dallas Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki.

I've heard a rumble or two in recent months from parties hopeful of luring Bradley Beal away from Washington that Beal is known for saying, in essence, that he wants to be the Dirk Nowitzki of the Wizards in terms of playing only for the franchise that drafted him No. 3 overall in 2012. In an interview last week with Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks, Beal stopped short of publicly promising to re-sign with Washington this summer but did strongly hint at it when he said: “If I feel like I can win in DC, that’s what I’m gonna do, and I want people to respect that.”

According to Stein, teams that are attempting to acquire Beal are hearing that he wants to be the “Dirk Nowitzki of the Wizards.” Essentially, some believe that Beal wants to play out the remainder of his career in Washington, just as Dirk did with Dallas.

However, Beal also wants to play for a winner. Unfortunately, Washington, who has posted four straight losing seasons, hasn't done a whole lot of winning lately.

Still, Beal, who seems loyal, now has another reason- along with money- to re-sign with the Wizards.
