Free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas has agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards will be Thomas' fourth team in three seasons. To recall, he was traded by the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017. Come February 2018, he was sent to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the summer last year, he inked a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Along with nursing a hip injury, Thomas has struggled to find his rhythm back, as well as co-exist with his new set of teammates. He wasn't fully healthy during his stint with the Lakers and the Cavs.

On the other hand, while he was deemed fully healthy during the latter part of the 2018-19 season with the Nuggets, head coach Mike Malone kept him on the bench and out of the rotation.  Malone didn't discuss in detail why he took Thomas out of the rotation. Instead, he simply said that the move was best for the team.

The deal is seen as an effort by the Wizards to remain well-grounded in the point guard spot. John Wall is expected to be out for the majority of the year due to an Achilles injury. Time will only tell if Thomas will be the team's starter or back up, but they're definitely hoping that the former All-Star can help turn their fortunes around.
