Kyle Kuzma is definitely the most intriguing among all the assets that the Washington Wizards received in the trade for Russell Westbrook. Once seen as a promising young prospect on the Los Angeles Lakers, he was quickly thrust into a supporting role on a team chasing for a championship.
Entering his new situation with the Wizards, Kuz gets a full restart on his career—one he seems to desperately need. Before the Lakers traded him away, Kuz spoke out exactly a month ago about the lack of consistency in his role with LA.
Via Bleacher Report's Tyler Conway:
“My biggest thing is I just want to play within a consistent role,” Kuzma said. “If I have that ability, I'll be able to showcase what I can really do. There were parts of this year—and even anywhere else in my career—when I'm in a consistent space, I'm out there handling the ball, making teammates better, scoring, shooting, defending, rebounding. I think if I'm in that space, I'll be good.”

Kyle Kuzma went from being a near-20 point scorer to having to revamp his entire game to cater to the superstars that ruled the Lakers roster. Now with Kuzma in Washington, he'll try to rekindle the same promise he flashed earlier in his career.
That's why Kuzma's answer to a simple question on joining the Wizards was quite telling: “What do you look forward to the most playing with your new team?”

It's clear as day that Kyle Kuzma was more than ready for a change of scenery. There's not exactly bad blood between him and LeBron James or the Lakers, but you just know the desire to part ways was mutual. The Wizards are hoping Kuz channels all that motivation into a huge bounce-back year in D.C.
