P.J. Fleck's Minnesota Golden Gophers gave the Ohio State Buckeyes all they could handle in Thursday night's season opener in Minneapolis.

The Golden Gophers took a 14-10 lead into the halftime break and lead again at 21-17 in the third quarter. Much of that was due to star running back Mohamed Ibrahim who was running all over the Buckeyes defense.

Ibrahim came up limping though in the third quarter and many speculated based off video replay that it could be a season-ending achilles injury for Ibrahim. After the game, via ESPN.com and GopherHole, Fleck gave an update and talked about some of the other options Minnesota may have to roll with.

“Whatever it is, we'll figure it out and we'll row and we'll get better,” Fleck said. “We'll make sure he's healthy at the point we bring him back. Hopefully, it's nothing major, but we don't know that just yet.”

When Fleck discussed the play of Ibrahim and what he means to this Golden Gophers team he was noticeably emotional.

Ibrahim is one of the best running backs in not only the B1G, but the entire country entering this year. In a little less than three quarters on Thursday, he had already racked up 163 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on 30 carries.

It would be a massive loss for Minnesota if he were to miss the rest of the year but nobody knows what the final word is yet on his injury.

Ibrahim did emerge from the injury tent on the Golden Gophers sidelines after getting checked out with a walking boot on as he went back to the locker room.

Ohio State went on to win the game 45-31.
