Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Brandon Wimbush is currently trotting about life in a walking boot. According to the team, he is listed as day-to-day, though that seems far more like a precautionary measure more than anything else.
“He experienced some foot soreness after the [Miami (Ohio)] game, so we put him in a walking boot, which is fairly typical relative to procedures,” head coach Brian Kelly told Blue and Gold Illustrated. “We just want to be really cautious with him, and we’ll begin the process of practicing and see how he progresses during the week.”
The weird thing about this happens to be that no one knows the origin of this injury. Did he have some foot soreness going back a few weeks, did it happen in a recent game, did a friend accidentally step on it?
So many questions. So few answers!
Article Continues BelowBrandon Wimbush has been OK in the air so far this season for Notre Dame, but has been electric on the ground. Brian Kelly, the supposed QB whisper that he is(n't), will still need to parlay the gunslinger's skills — which are clearly there — into something a little more if the Irish want to have their success beget itself.
“He went out and felt his foot was not right, and he went home. That’s what he told me. I believe him,” Kelly said. “I have no reason not to believe him based upon my relationship with him over the last three years.”
Norte Dame faces North Carolina this weekend.
