Remember when there were reports when the New Jersey Nets almost re-branded to the name New Jersey Swamp Dragons in the mid 90's?

Somehow, that name seems to have re-surfaced for the Nets.

The New Jersey Nets have now trademarked the name Swamp Dragons. If you are wondering if this is a joke, it's certainly not… this is really happening.

What we don't know is if the Nets plan on going through with a complete re-brand and name change in the near future.

What we do know is that they have trademarked everything under the sun they could merchandise and sell for the ‘Swamp Dragons,' if they ever decided to follow through on that idea.

The logo, fonts, and arena colors fit the mid 90's era with a cartoon-ish and fun style. If Brooklyn no longer finds the Nets name desirable, they'll already have everything in place to move forward.
