Three games into the season and the Brooklyn Nets are already making history. The Nets are averaging 124.3 points per game, and according to the NBA.com/Stats' Twitter account, they are the first team in nearly 30 years to score 115 or more points in their first three games.

Despite losing Jeremy Lin in their season opener with a devastating knee injury, the Nets’ offense has kept on chugging to beat both the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks at home.

The Nets want to push the pace, which allows them to get more opportunities to score. They led the NBA in pace in their first season under head coach Kenny Atkinson last year. They are playing at an even faster pace this season, but the big reason they’re putting up a ton of points is because they have improved their efficiency from 28th last season to well inside the top 10 through three games.

The Nets picked up a few more players this offseason that can capably run the offense and put the ball in the basket, which has helped their efficiency. D’Angelo Russell is having a strong start to the season, while veteran forward DeMarre Carroll has been a welcome surprise, with 17 points in back-to-back games.

The Nets could experience some regression in terms of efficiency as the season wears on. But if they can remain fairly efficient and continue to push the pace, they should keep putting up a good number of points throughout the year.
