The Brooklyn Nets have been waiting patiently for a Ben Simmons injury update that gives them real hope of a return to the court. The three-time All-Star has yet to make his Nets debut to a back injury. Although he has made his return to the court to work out, he hasn't played alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving yet.

With the postseason around the corner, the Nets finally got a great update on Simmons. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Simmons could make his Nets debut during the first round of the NBA playoffs as long as he keeps progressing in his rehab. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the same.

The Nets will have to clinch a playoff spot in the play-in tournament. With a win over the lowly Indiana Pacers today, they would clinch the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and only have to win one game in order to make the postseason. They already have a great chance at making a deep playoff run with Durant and Irving but Simmons would provide a new element to the Nets' lineup that could make them favorites to win the title again.

Brooklyn had to wait a while for the Ben Simmons injury update that gave them hope. The Nets previously were not sure at all whether he would be able to play this season. At nearly the very last second, they got just the update they needed. They could make some real noise in the NBA playoffs now.
