Amid his trade demand from the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant has been on the receiving end of some massive backlash. However, he couldn't care less.
On Twitter, Nets fans are bashing KD after his alleged reason for asking a trade surfaced. According to reports, he is both “disillusioned by the Nets’ disastrous season” and “upset with the team’s stance toward Irving”–who is one of the main culprits for their chaotic year in the first place.
One fan called out Durant for his action, noting how the Nets paid him more than $40 million in 2019-20 while letting him rehab his Achilles injury only to be abandoned in the end. While Brooklyn has full control of what they can do with KD, the said supporter sees it disrespectful that Durant would leave at the first sign of an issue instead of trying to resolve it and make it work.
Upon seeing the comment, however, Durant couldn't help but laugh at the talk.
To be fair to Kevin Durant, the Nets knew what they were getting when they signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in 2019. Durant just suffered an injury that time and everyone knew he wouldn't be able to play.
Durant is far from being the problem for the Nets as well. It is clear that he wants to keep competing for the title, but with Irving's future with the team in limbo, there has always been the possibility of him leaving.
For now, fans have to wait and see where the Nets will trade KD. But hey, at least they'll get something significant in return for Durant should they part ways with him.
