It is no secret that Brooklyn Nets superstar forward Kevin Durant and Washington Wizards All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook go way back to their time together as members of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With these two going from teammates to friends to enemies to rivals and everything in between over the years, the tandem of Durant and Westbrook are now both in the Eastern Conference as the Nets and Wizards squared off for the first time in 2020-21 on Sunday afternoon  in Brooklyn.

While Westbrook and the Wizards ultimately came away with a narrow victory on the road, a key moment in the game occurred with just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter as Durant went right at his former Thunder teammate. Durant posted Westbrook up en route to securing a clutch two-point bucket for the Nets and bringing Brooklyn within a pair against the Wizards.

After Durant decided to leave Oklahoma City in favor the Golden State Warriors, these two superstars continued to battle it out in the Western Conference with the former then crossing over into the Eastern Conference as a member of the Nets two offseasons ago. With Westbrook later making his way from Oklahoma City to the Houston Rockets for one season, he was then traded to the Wizards just before the start of the 2020-21 regular season.

Despite the fact that Westbrook and company overcame Durant and the Nets over the weekend, it is Brooklyn that remains poised to go on to potentially do some pretty big things this time around.
