Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving privately expressed frustration with ESPN's report about his “mood swings,” according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

ESPN reported Nets officials have an “unspoken concern” about Irving’s “infamous mood swings.”

Sources close to Irving expressed frustration with the report, especially since he is trying to not make the focus this season about what he says and does when he isn’t on the court.

The Nets are 2-4 on the young season. Irving is playing great, but his production isn't leading to wins yet.

Through six games, Irving is averaging 30.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists. He's shooting 44.9 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and 90.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Nets are coming off a bad loss to the Detroit Pistons, who were playing without Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Reggie Jackson and Tim Frazier. Brooklyn will look to get back in the win column on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Irving is one of the most mercurial players in the NBA. This is the same guy who requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers after playing in three straight Finals and left the Boston Celtics after telling fans he was going to stay.

In Brooklyn, Irving is playing with his two pals, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan — although Durant is widely expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear.

Only time will tell if Irving is able to lead the Nets on a deep playoff run this season. So far, things are off to a slow start.
