Kevin Durant became just the latest member of the 25,000 career points club, joining an elite list of names. The Brooklyn Nets star did this during their game against the Boston Celtics. It's an incredible achievement, one that not a lot of former stars can say they've ever reached.

Kyrie Irving certainly thinks he can reach that same peak Kevin Durant did. After KD's career night, the Nets star guard talked about what he wants to do with his best buddy once they retire. (via ESPN)

“And for me, it motivates me to continue to get my game up and hopefully when I'm done with my career I could be sitting next to him and having 25,000 as well and look back and we just crack jokes on a few championships that we won together. So that's the goal at hand.”

Winning a championship in Brooklyn has always been the goal for Irving and Durant. That's basically the main reason why they decided to team up together. However, unfavorable circumstances have plagued this team, whether it was the bubble back in 2019, a litany of injuries last season, and Kyrie's refusal to get the vaccine this year.

It's not outlandish for Kyrie to dream that he and KD will win a few championships with the Nets. However, what's likely not possible is Irving reaching 25k points himself. At age 30, Kyrie sits at a shade under 14,000 career points. He has the talent to reach that, however… his proclivity to injury definitely hampers his chances.
