Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets is still not allowed to play unvaccinated against COVID-19 in New York, but he can enjoy games at Barclays Center as a fan. On Saturday night, Irving was among the thousands in attendance to watch the Duke Blue Devils and the Virginia Tech Hokies go at it in the ACC Tournament title game, which, unfortunately for his alma mater, ended in a loss.

It was a tough loss for Duke for a number of reasons. After failing to win in Mike Krzyzewski's last home game as head coach of the program, they also came up short in taking home an ACC Tournament championship in the legendary bench boss' game in conference play. Prior to the loss to Virginia Tech, the Blue Devils barely survived the challenge of the Miami Hurricanes in the semifinals.

Kyrie Irving watched helplessly from the courtside as the realization that the Hokies were going to upset Duke gradually became more serious in the second half. In any case, the Nets point guard can still cheer for the Blue Devils in the National Tournament, where Duke is among the top favorites to be the last team standing.

The Nets have some business to tend on their own as well, as they look to win their third game in a row Sunday night against the New York Knicks in Gotham, which means Irving will not be suiting up for that contest.
