Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving let his game talk for him once again on Tuesday night as he led his team to a lopsided 125-99 win over the Golden State Warriors. Irving, who scored a team-high of 26 points, controlled the game from the get-go and made sure his 2020-21 NBA season debut didn't go unnoticed.

Irving, who's been rather shrewd when it comes to media availability as of late, was kind enough to answer a few questions on Tuesday night after their season opener. He discussed how his approach to the game has evolved through the course of his time in the league:

“As a young player, you think that scoring a bunch of points and doing a bunch of things, getting individual accolades are great. I definitely was going after those things, and now, I don't really care for any of those individual accolades or goals. It really doesn't bother me. I know I'm validated culturally, and that's all that matters,” Irving said (via YES Network on Twitter).

Among his peers, Irving has been looked up to as one of the most elite and respected stars in the entire league. Despite what the media portrays, the former first overall pick has managed to find ways to become a dominant presence for any team he suits up for.

This was exactly the case on Tuesday as he was undoubtedly the brightest star donning the Nets' uniform. Irving, who dropped 24 of his 26 points in the first 24 minutes of play, managed to outshine the comebacking Kevin Durant who played his first game back since June 2019. Durant, for his part, still put up 22 points on the board as this two-headed monster in Brooklyn is poised to give the rest of the league a huge problem this season.
