At long last, the Ben Simmons saga is over. Or is it? Insert foreboding music here. But alas, the two-way guard has finally found a new home with the Brooklyn Nets after being traded for James Harden in a blockbuster deal on Thursday.

Simmons definitely needs a change of scenery after his acrimonious stint with the Philadelphia 76ers. The All-Star playmaker, however, will join the Nets in a rather difficult stretch, and with the way things are going, the situation could only get worse. Even NBA history says so.

The Nets suffered their 10th straight loss on Thursday after bowing to the Washington Wizards by a hairline, 113-112. According to the good people of StatMuse, no team in NBA history has won the championship after a double-digit losing streak in the same season.

The odds are definitely stacked against the Nets. Kevin Durant is still out for an extended period, Kyrie Irving can't play in most of their remaining games, and the Harden experiment amounted to nothing. The Nets could only hope that Simmons will provide the much-needed spark to get the team back on track.

The Nets also added solid pieces in Andre Drummond and Seth Curry, so there's definitely no need to press the panic button yet.

After the loss to the Wizards, the Nets dropped to 29-26 and are currently at the no. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference.
